Major League Modern Warefare on PS3

Do you have what it takes to make it in the big leagues?

The other day, while shooting Osamas, I received a message from another PS3 user. It was an invite to participate in the draft for Major League Modern Warfare. The league is not directly affiliated with Activision or Infinity Ward from what I could gather. In fact, a quick search found that this league might be the spawn of a high school student. This is a genuine grass roots effort to build a league from the playground up.

Is that such a big deal though?

If any one has the time to put in the required effort for a project like this, it's a high school student. When I was in high school, I spent hours and hours messing with Photoshop and learning web design by slapping together a fan site for the band Garbage. It was completely pointless, but fun. As an adult, I wish I had that kind of time to devote to my current hobbies.

That being said, I think this has a good opportunity to actually take off, given enough support. Sure there are plenty of Xbots out there who are going to get their Master Chief panties in a wad over the fact that it's a PS3 only league. Sorry Tsquared

The seasons are going to be about three months long with three games a week for a total of 28 games. The play offs will feature the top four teams from each conference.  There's an eastern and western conference with an as yet undefined number of teams. Regular season games will go for 3 rounds of 5v5 Team Deathmatch to 1500 points. Each round win earns the team a point. All games will go for the full three rounds, so it's possible for a team to lose a game but still earn a point. One of the coolest things about the league is that each team gets to pick a "home" original disc multiplayer map.

So, what makes this different than Game Battles?

"...MLMW cares more for single players and will match them with teams. Additionally, MLMW focuses solely on MW2 on the PS3 and thus provides a stronger community as there is a definite focus."

You can apply to be a player, or a team owner. The draft begins August 14th, make sure to go sign up now if you want to get in on the action!
